Yes: There are many different types of the hpv virus and Gardasil only helps to protect against 4 of the types.

Different strain: Early hpv vaccination doesn't protect against all types of hpv, only specific ones associated with cervical cancer. You likely have an hpv type not covered by the vaccine.
