A member asked:

I am 43 yrs old & haven't had a period in six years. at 39 i was diagnosed menopausal. i've been feeling off & had a neg test. could i be pregnant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Pregnancy unlikely: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a very reliable result 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened). If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.
