A member asked:

Can methotrexate help herpes or cause a out break?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Outbreak...: Methotrexate is an immunosuppressive drug and is not an antiviral compound. Thus some patients can have flares of viruses like herpes or varicella (chickenpox and shingles) when they receive Methotrexate because their white blood cell numbers and/or activity are decreased.
