Recurrent herpes: The recommended treatment for recurrent oral or genital herpes due to HSV1 is valacyclovir (Valtrex) 2 grams, repeated in 12 hours. Lignocaine might help a little until the valacyclovir kicks in, but not much; petroleum jelly probably will work just as well. If you want to sign up for HealthTap Concierge, perhaps you can get a prescription here. But probably best to see a doctor in person.

Please see your GP: I would recommend seeing your GP who can examine and then provide your with the appropriate antiviral medications. If you do not have a GO or are having difficulty accessing one then you can opt for a live consult on HealthTap and the doctor on duty may prescribe the meds over a virtual consult.
