Usually 3-10 days: Symptoms of a new genital herpes infection, usually red bumps that rapidly become blisters then open sores, usually start at 3-5 days, sometimes up to 10 days, rarely as long as 2-3 weeks. Often there also are inflammed lymph nodes in the groin, and sometimes fever and headache. However, many new infections are mild or cause no symptoms. If any new genital sore of any kind, see doctor immediately.
