PROBABLY NOT: Nexplanon is VERY effective and starts working almost as soon as it is placed. However, the ONLY 100% effective form of birth control is abstinence. If you want to be sure you minimize your risk of pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, best to have your partner also use a condom even though you have the nexplanon.

You only need: ...back up contraception if it's been 7 days or less since the insertion. By my calculation, you're 15 days post-insertion, so you should be protected against pregnancy. Of course, this is assuming the Nexplanon was inserted properly & you're not taking any medications that would interfere with its effectiveness. If you have ?'s about that, talk with your Gyno. My best! Dr. Anne
