Gastroenterologist: This may be a gas entrapment problem with some spasm of the levator muscle in the anorectal area relieved by expelling flatus. It would be an unusual pattern for irritable bowel syndrome which often is symptomatic after eating rather than overnight. A gastroenterologist is best qualified to evaluate you.
