I have bacterial orchitis not caused by an std. anything i can take besides fluroquinolones and bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim)? that will effectively work? please help me :(

See urologist or ID: Presumably tested for STDs? Gonorrhea and chlamydia are the most common causes of epididymitis or orchitis at your age. If diagnosis of non-STD bacterial infection is correct, treatment depends on which antibiotics are active against that bacteria. Usually Bactrim (sulfamethoxazole and trimethoprim) or a quinolone would work, but not always. Check for TB, testicular cancer. Discuss w/ urologist or an infectious diseases specialist.

"for a while"? How long? Please follow the principles of evaluation as depicted above to proceed with reevaluation. If the pain, induration, and swelling are slowly but surely getting better day by day, time with patience would be the best medicine; of course, close F/U is advised.
