A 30-year-old male asked:
If my partner had a yeast infection, would that cause me to get herpes?

No: Yeast and herpes are different types of infections cause by two different germs.
If you have herpes from your partner, your partner likely has herpes as well. ---> You get herpes from another person with herpes.

How can you tell if you have yeast infection or herpes?

Get a pelvic exam: It's not always easy to tell if it's a yeast infection vs herpes. If your only symptom is itching in the vaginal area it could be either. If there is thick white d/c then your doc can test this for yeast. If there is a sore, this can be cultured for herpes. If you think you may have been exposed to herpes, but there is no visible sore there is a blood test to detect if you have an infection too.
