Furuncle or 'pimple': This sounds like a small localized cutaneous abscess of the skin-we usually call these 'furuncles' or 'pimples' in common language. If it's still bothering you, I would show it to a doctor. They can drain it, if it is large enough, or help you with some antibiotic therapy. Staph infections are quite common in the groin- and I suspect that's what it is. Herpes, in contrast, is a blistery and HURTS!
