Probably not herpes: Herpes doesn't behave like this -- both the type of rash and location are wrong. This sounds more like jock itch or a superficial bacterial infection, or just irritation from sweat, body secretions, etc. See a doctor if it doesn't clear up or you remain concerned, but I'm sure this is no STD or any other infection from the recent sexual exposure.
