A 38-year-old male asked:

how long can you use sarna sensitive lotion on glans and under penis no itching dry scarred senseituve skin lotion was given by dr. at u.p.m.c?

You can stop: if the initial period of itching has stopped, then ok to stop using lotion (1-2 weeks should be adequate). If skin remains dry, you could switch to "non-medicated" emollient such as Vanicream or Aquaphor, which would be less sensitizing. I hope I understood the question. Check with your UPMC doctor, they are highly respected

Not a steroid: Since Sarna Sensitive isn't a steroid, there's no hard & fast time limit for its use. As long as you have this problem, you can continue to use the Sarna Sensitive as directed. If the condition starts getting worse, however, you should discontinue the Sarna Sensitive and see your doctor again.

Pressure on wound: Put a small bandaid on it and if is still bleeding in the morning then see your doctor. If it is bleeding a lot then go to the er to get it to stop.Cover it with pressure and keep pressure for at least 20 minutes then keep bandaid and slowly remove it gently more pressure should get the bleeding to stop. It will heal but get it checked.

Vaginal discharge: Sometimes vaginal discharge has a green hue to it. Typically it's not a sign of infection so long as you don't have any itching or foul smell associated with it. Regardless, however, if you're concerned you may want to see a physician and get checked out for any possible infection, including possible stds. I haven't heard of birth control causing a change in the skin color of the vagina.

Insect bites: It could be any insect bite. See the doctor if it does not clear up in few days. If it is itchy you can try Hydrocortisone cream and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) by mouth.

See your Dr.: Hard to give a specific answer as the pelvic area is actually fairly large with a number of possibilities that may cause swelling. I would recommend seeing your dr. And having a good exam. Impossible to give you a good answer in this kind of forum. Good luck.

I am 38 f obese with fatty liver. I have lost 42 lbs since march . My hair is falling out. Could this be a sign of cirrhosis?

Probably not: Cirrhosis is not usually associated with hair loss.Any time there is a rapid reduction in weight or any kind of illness then we can see hair loss increase for several months. This type of hair loss comes back so not to worry. Good luck on your weight loss.
