A member asked:

Why is the vagina acidic?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lactobacilli: Lactobacilli are the bacteria found in a health vagina. They cause the pH of the vagina to be around 3.0 to 4.5, i.e., cause it to be on the acidic side. A pH above 4.5, which can be measured with a simple test strip, typically indicates the presence of bacterial vaginosis, trichomonas, or yeast.
