You can't: There's a lot of overlap between them. Some STDs are vaginal infections or cause vaginal symptoms. Of course risk factors for STD (new partners, multiple partners, etc) are important in judging the possibility of STD. But only a professional examination and testing can tell for sure. If you're having discharge, irritation, itching, or odor and these aren't normal for you, see a doctor. Good luck!
