Be sure of diagnosis: Get examined please. Canker sores are common aphthous ulcers of mouth that occur situationally, often in response to stressors, are bacterial or viral, & can be treated topically with many otc products that reduce local discomfort & potentially speed healing. However, oral/dental problems & a number of systemic diseases cause canker sore-like lesions--Crohn's, Behcet's, STD (sexually transmitted).

See Dentist: This may be a herpes lesion or an aphthous ulcer. See the Dentist to determine which one. Both respond to warm salt water rinses 3-5 times / day (or more) . Both take 10-14 days to heal. However, herpes can be communicated to others. Also, it can be treated if you can tell when it is beginning . For many, this lessens the severity and speeds the recovery. Good luck.
