Possibly: There is a warning to be aware of a possible decrease in effectiveness of hormonal birth control when using flagyl. Nothing absolute or definitive so it is best to be sure and use back up contraception while you're taking this medication.

Maybe (not): I agree w/dr. Enriquez that we've been very leery in past w/regards to use of any antibiotic in conjunction w/hormonal birth control. However, more recent studies suggest that main culprit is rifampin.
