Get checked: The only way to know what this is is to be examined by your doctor. It may be a yeast infection. If an over the counter yeast medication solves the problem then most likely that's all it was. Other possibilities include lichen sclerosis, lichen simplex chronicus, allergic reactions and psoriasis. Schedule a visit.

Many things.: Could be a yeast infection (topical). Other vulvar changes (pre-cancerous lesions, cancerous changes, lichen sclerosis, etc..) are also possibilities. Get this checked out.
