No: Risperidone can cause amenorrhea and hyperprolactinemia in some women. But this is not the same as having contraceptive properties. You can still become pregnant if you have unprotected sex. Risperidone is not a birth control method at all.

Risperdal: Risperidone & other psychotropic medications are not birth control pills, although some can affect menstrual cycles. Please review with your doc.

Hyperprolactinemia: Sometimes use of risperidal (risperidone) can lead to increases in prolactin (hyperprolactinemia) which has led to reduced fertility & menstrual changes (lack of periods or light periods). Risperidal (risperidone) should not be used for contraception.
