Depends on exam type: Some strains of human papilloma virus cause warts while others may cause tissue to become fragile and bleed easily. Both of these are visible to the naked eye. Other changes are only seen using special magnification equipment. Still other hpv changes can only be seen on a cellular level using a microscope. If you are worried, specifically ask your ENT to do an exam for hpv.
