They can!: We think of herpes sores as fluid-filled blisters, but they can look like small skin splits - and a variety of other bumps, too. Herpes lesions will generally scab over. Yes: Herpes can present as a small tear in the vaginal mucosa that can be indistinguishable from the tears we see after normal intercourse. The herpes lesion however will often recur in the same location and will be more painful than a tear from intercourse. Yeast can also be associated with mucosal tears. Schedule an appointment to get the correct diagnosis.
