No.: Birth control pills have no known adverse effect on implant surgery or healing. You will be taking an antibiotic after the surgery for a while, though, and this may interfere with the birth control pill's effectiveness so use another method to prevent pregnancy.

Absolutely NOT: The only medication that would cause any concern in placing dental implant is the bisphosphonates, drugs prescribed for osteoporosis, which interfere with bone remodeling and healing. In this case, patient must stop medicine for 3 months prior to place dental implant. The only caution on the contraceptive medication is that a birth control pill may not work when the patient is on antibiotics.

Should not affect: Oral contraception or hormone replacement therapy will not prevent you from getting a dental implant. If you are unsure check with your physician. Uncontrolled diabetes, smoking and bone-density drugs are often red flags that should be discussed with the surgeon placing the dental implant.
