Yes: Herpes is a virus and can be transmitted through body fluids. For example, you may have oral sex with someone who has genital herpes and get "genital herpes-hsv-2" on your lips (as oppsed to the common hsv-1-cold sore herpes). Wearing condoms during sex and assuring you have no open hand sores (or even wearing gloves) is the best way to prevent the spread of hsv-2 (next to abstinence).
