Since : Since pregnancy is the number one reason for a missed period, did you take your pregnancy tests at least 1 week after your missed period? If so, then they are probably accurate and you are not pregnant. There are other reasons besides pregnancy that can cause a woman to miss a period such as: stress, diet, excessive exercise or a hormone imbalance such as with a thyroid disorder or polycystic ovarian syndrome. Birth control pills with low estrogen content (like lo loestrin fe) can also cause missed periods by preventing the lining of the uterus from building up during the cycle, so there is nothing to slough off when it is time for your period. If you continue to have missed periods and you find this worrisome, talk with your doctor. You can always switch to a higher estrogen pill so you will be more likely to have a period every month.
