Oral bcp: pregnant?: The most common cause of pregnancy while taking low dose bcp's is not beginning the next cycle any more than seven days at most after the placebos are completed. Ovulation may happen on the 8-12th day spontaneously, and then starting the pill cycle will post-pone your knowledge of pregnancy another month at least. To be certain, get a serum HCG test.

Regular use of OC's: When taking an oral contraceptive it is imperative to take the pill every day about the same time each day. Adherence to this regimen will allow the most efficacy for this method. Using a "back up" physical contraceptive is assuring to prevent pregnancy for the initial month of pill use. If no period at the end of this cycle, please do a pregnancy test.
