Pain, rash, itching: The common word for it is shingles. It may first make itself kinown by severe pain over a given area, very puzzling to a doc. After a day or so the blotchy red rash appears and itching and pain continue until it resolves. There is no valid treatment for it.

Shingles: Zoster, often referred to as shingles, is a reactivation of the varicella (chickenpox) virus lying dormant in a nerve cell. When it occurs it generally begins without pain or itching in the distribution of the specific nerve and then the development of a rash in that area with small blisters. It tends to occur as a band on the torso or on the face. A vaccine exists to help prevention this.
