Infection vs tissues: Since you are older i would assume you've had the standard pelvic pain workup. If your doc are still guessing then you need to shift gears and began a wellness program, vits, magnesium glycinate, sleep hygiene, exercise, self massage, chiropractor, yoga, heat, epsom tub soaking, and stretching. Think flesh=muscles/tissue and not organs with chronic pain.

Pain with sex: There are many possibilities. The most likely source of the pain are the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovary or colon. You need to report this to your doctor and get an examination including a pelvic examination to determine the cause and then you can be given proper treatment.

Not long: Provided there are no tears, the vaginal discomfort usually only last a few minutes. If it is longer you may have some superficial tears that should heal in a few days.

Change positions: There can be several causes. Most likely it is anatomic; depending on size and where you hurt. Make sure you do enough foreplay to feel aroused, use lube (astroglide) and try different positions so it stays comfortable. If it hurts try something else. Sex should not be painful. If you have an abnormal discharge see your doc.
