No: Outbreaks of genital herpes are treated with antiviral agents, such as acyclovir, famciclovir, or valacyclovir. The duration of therapy is usually 7-10 days. These medications are also used for long-term suppressive therapy. Baking soda should have no effect on the lesions or duration of the episode. Sometimes women with painful urination resulting from the lesions may benefit from a sitz bath.
