Not usually: Herpes is usually a non fatal but annoying condition in adults. It can cause painful sores or ulcers and even recurrent outbreaks and surrounding infection. It can increase your risk of contracting HIV if exposed. Rarely in can cause infection in the brain or meningitis. In newborns it can cause brain infection, blindness and death. In men you can also get inflamed rectum. Not usually death.
