Sign and symptoms: If you see genital discharge or genital ulceration or have some other symptoms suggesting urogenital disease and you are sexually active and have unprotected sex with someone who recently was diagnosed with an std, then you probably have an std; however definite diagnosis is made by being examined by a doctor and have test ordered.

Unfortunately, yes: In the United States, african americans are disproportionately affected by sexually transmitted diseases such as hiv, chlamydia, and gonorrhea. These disparities are likely related to the lack of access to high quality health care in some communities.

YES: Any one who has had sexual contact, can be infected with an std. That includes babies and children who are sexually abused. Up to 2-3 percent of sexually abuse children will test positive for gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Sure: Yes, STDs can be spread by any form of sexual contact. For instance, you can get gonorrhea in your throat from oral sex (a lovely thought in the morning). Many other STDs are spread from simple skin-to-skin contact or contact with infected body secretions and certainly those things apply to other forms of sexual contact.

Just get checked: Why ask this silly question when you already know the answer is "yes." just get checked out. Some std's are dangerous to you and some are dangerous to your partner(s).
A 21-year-old member asked:

Are contracting multiple simultaneous STDs common?

Yes: Obviously, obtaining an std infection means one is engaging in risky sexual behavior with other at risk individuals. Therefore, there is a risk of acquiring other infections at the same time. For instance, when one gets chlamydia or gonnorhea, doctors with frequent just assume you have the other because they often go hand-in-hand.
