Is it possible to contract herpes from a blood transfusion?

No: This has never been reported. Both species of herpes are quite common, but don't seem to get into units of blood, or if they do, the antibodies that people have who already have herpes of the skin neutralize them. There are serious risks to transfusions but this isn't one of them.
