How effective is birth control if you do not take it at the same time everyday?

Less effective: It has become more critical that you take your ocps around the same time each day to ensure effective birth control. This is mainly from the lower dose ocps today. It's gone from 50mcg of ethinyl estrogen to 35, 30, 20, and now 10 mcg. Once you reach 20mcg or less, there's more of a chance of breakthrough ovulation & therefore pregnancy. Try to take them within the same hour each day.
