A few things: It could be hemorrhoids or an anal fissure (though a fissure is usually painful). You can try "Calmoseptine" cream once or twice daily, sold at local drug stores usually or online.

Might also be: a yeast infection. Please see your doc. Peace and good health. This infection is called candida and can cause symptoms from mouth (white blotches) to anus if that's what you have.

Yeast: Any area were skin meets skin tends to become moist. This can allow for our own natural surface bacteria and yeast to grow. Yeast often tend to overgrow and cause itching. I recommend keeping the area dry with powder like zeasorb (over the counter) which keeps yeast counts down.

Difficult problem: This can be very difficult to treat. Working through possible causes is critical as a first step. Local infections or irritations, or itching as a sign of a systemic problem like crohn's should be addressed directly. If no clear cause, a very short course of topical steroids can help, but caution with too strong or too long. Some rx meds can help (elavil). Omt & acupuncture have helped my patients.

Lots of reasons: Fungal infections are common. A contact dermatitis from something left by laundry in your clothes. Infections, pin worms, hemorrhoids, etc...The list is very long. Time to have your doc take a look down there and get you some relief!

Yeast: The anus is just the other end of your mouth. What have you been eating?
Food allergy or sensitivity could be the ticket here, but either yeast overgrowth can itch.
