Placebo pills: The placebo or sugar pills in the birth control packs sometimes have iron in them which would be beneficial if you are anemic and they are there so you don't lose the habit of taking your pills daily. As far as taking your pills continuously to prevent you from having a period you need to verify with your doctor to see if this is how you should be taking them.
