Hemorrhoids : you are describing a thrombosed hemorrhoid. These are very common. You treat it like a regular hemorrhoid unless it is seriously painful. There is a surgical procedure to cut out the clot that is making it hard, but the procedure can cause a significant amount of pain and does not always relieve all of the symptoms.
