A member asked:

Is it true that if a male takes medications daily , there are chances of his sperm being low and not getting a women pregnant?

It depends: Some medications can interfere with fertility, either by interfering with sperm production, decreasing libido or blocking the sperm ability to fertilize the egg. A discussion with his doctor could help by determining if this is the case, or deciding if there are other options. He should not stop them, a chronic problem may worsen and the effects may still be present.

What are they?: What are the medications you referred to? Specifically, taking testosterone will suppress sperm production due to no biofeedback to induce the secretion of follicular stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). Besides, some chemotherapeutic agents may suppress sperm production also. Otherwise, the commonly used drugs would not affect sperm production.
