May be dermatitis: Dr. Richards is quite correct. Other possibilities could be a reaction to a soap, lotion, perfume, or detergent. Avoid scents! Sometimes scrubbing too hard dries the skin and makes it more prone to itching. Too hot water also dries skin out and makes it itchy. Lastly, some generic pantyliners & pads can be causing a reaction. I see this more and more, so much so that I call it the "Generic Itch".

Pubic Lice: Intense itching and burning where your pubic hair is could be pubic lice commonly known as crabs. You can buy the treatment called Elimite (permethrin) over the counter. Be sure to wash all towels, clothes and bedding. Your partner needs to be treated as well. Sometimes it requires more than one treatment to get rid of the lice. Any worsening of symptoms or discharge needs evaluation by your doctor.

Please bring this up with your Gynecologist who knows your medical history. If you don't have confidence in your Doctor see another for a second opinion.
