OCP, IUD, IM shots: Most common is oral contraceptive pills and there are many to choose from. Other options include subdermal implant (Nexplanon), intrauterine device (copper based or hormonal based), and intramuscular injection of Depo-Provera. Speak with your OB/GYN for further information and discussion about best option for you and lifestyle. Find what's best that you can adhere to will be important.

Birth control pills: Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCPs) are the standard "beginner's" form of birth control. They are easily started and easily stopped. They work well with very little issue or effort. They are not a commitment like Depo Shots (every 3 months). If you do well on OCPs, and you wish to have a different form; you can go with patches, shots, or inserts. Try the pills for 6 months first, to assure tolerance.
