Chancroid vs herpes: Chancroid is an std caused by a bacterium which forms soft lumps that ulcerate. It's cured with antibiotics. (for more info see http://www.Ncbi.Nlm.Nih.Gov/pubmedhealth/pmh0001659/ ). Herpes is a virus that causes blisters & ulcers; it can be suppressed with antiviral meds but never is completely cured & can recur when triggered by stress, etc. Both cause ulcerations.
