HSV 1 infection: Whether you realize it or not you are infected with HSV 1- the cold sore virus. It is actually very common. This virus "hides" in a nerve root and will come out at times of 'stress'-- such as when sick with another illness. That's why we call them 'cold sores' or 'fever blisters'. Your treatment would depend on how much trouble the virus is giving you. Your primary MD should be able to help.
