No: If you are not using any form of contraception and have taken the ring out, you can still get pregnant. I'm not sure why you would want to take the ring out prior to intercourse as that whole point of the ring is that it stays in for 3 weeks & provides contraception. Also know that even with the ring in place, you are not protected from STDs like HIV, Herpes etc unless your partner uses a condom.
