Not really: The simple answer is no, the iud should not be associated with a tendency for yeast infections. Yeast infections are not serious, but can be quite an irritation. They are usually easy to treat with either oral Fluconazole or vaginal anti fungal creams/suppositories. On rare occasion reaction to the iud string could alter the vaginal environment and might make yeast infections more likely- rare.

Unlikely: Yeats infections are due to an overgrowth of normally growing fungi in the vagina. Look for causes such as recent antibiotic us, right, non cotton underwear, oral birth control pills containing estrogen, excessive alcohol consumption, diabetes or pregnancy. It is unlikely that a known iud x 5 years will cause this, however it is considered a risk factor.
