Possibly: Have you been diagnosed with herpes? Herpes lesions usually start out as a vesicle which is a type of fluid filled sac that "pops" on its own and crusts over. I would advise that you let the vesicles "pop" on their own. If you disrupt them this may lead to scarring in the future. However, this practice should not lead to an ulcer.

It may scar: If you scratch or pop any sore it can leave a scar.
