Nonspecific: At this time, with no obvious lesions, your lip discomfort is nonspecific. However it may be a prodrome to the development of a cold sore(herpes simplex) which often appears as an out break after a couple of days of vague discomfort. Hopefully the discomfort may clear with no lesions appearing.

Keep watching it: It may be a very early sign of something to come, such as a cold sore. Keep an eye on the area and monitor the progress. If you need to, take an over the counter med like tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen as directed for the discomfort. Best wishes.
