2-5 days: A man should ejaculate somewhere between 48 hours and 5 days prior to a semen analysis. If he ejaculates to close to the test, the sample will be depleted and the result will be low. If he goes too long between ejaculation and the test, the sperm will be less viable and there will be more dead sperm in the result.
