Cheaper than infecti: Cheaper than dealing with the outcomes from the infection. For instance - a pap smear looking for the outcomes of hpv - cancer or its precursors - may cost a couple hundred bucks. Dealing with cancer costs 10's or 100's of thousands! most insurances will cover the cost and if not, health depts and clinics offer low cost testing and care.

Depends: Find a local clinic where this can be done cheaply or even free. Try your local health department first.
