Blood test: Screening for syphilis is usually done by an RPR blood test. If you have sores on your genitals, rash on your palms or other symptoms see a doctor asap.

Blood test: Syphilis is tested in the blood. The test to check is RPR (rapid plasma reagin). Besides screening for syphilis, this test can be used to track the progress of the disease over time and its response to therapy.

Syphilis is caused : By a bacterium called treponema pallidum. Syphilis can be diagnosed by finding non-specific antibodies in the blood (rapid plasma reagin or rpr), examining for bacteria in samples from open sores under a microscope (primary ; secondary syphilis) or in some cases examination of cerebropsinal fluid via lumbar puncture.
