Variable: Most people do not get cancer from hpv infection. Other factors, such as use of tobacco, alcohol and other infections may increase the risk. Genetic predisposition to hpv induced cancer also plays a strong role. The lag time varies from years to decades.

No one really knows: Likely would take a long time but its important to know that most people who are infected with hpv will not end up getting cancer.
