No: Genital warts - caused by the hpv virus - are common and contagious, but they are not dangerous. A person's body mounts an immune response to the virus, but is usually unable to kill the virus and the warts they produce. The overall immune system is not affected and immune responses to other bodily threats will not be adversely affected. Peter wilk, md.
