Inflammation: Cervicitis is an inflammation of the lining of the cervix (lower part of the uterus). There are many causes, including infection, irritation, friction, changes in hormone function, atrophy and vasculitis, just to name a few. Post-coital bleeding and pain with intercourse are symptoms of cervicitis. Infections include bacteria, yeasts, and viruses as the most common causes.
