What's the official difference between molestation and rape?

Both are crimes: Rape is forcible sexual intercourse, often under threat of physical injury. Often the victim is unable to consent or resist. Like being under influence of date rape drugs or physically overpowered, etc. Molestation involves a sexual act (which could be rape, but doesn't have to be) with someone beneath the age of legal consent. Both rape and molestation are crimes, and are traumatizing.
